Child therapy

So many children today, starting from a very young age, are now presenting problems such as self-harm, physical abuse, suicide, low self-esteem, anger & aggression, anxiety & depression, drug & alcohol dependency eating disorder and many more.

Its vital for a child to connect with us from the start of the session, as this will be a big deal for them; They will not want just another authoritative person in their lives.  They will want someone they can truly open-up to, who will not judge them, or tell them what to do.

We will listen to them and talk to them in age appropriate language.  We will give them space and time to be heard.  We will encourage them to tell their story and what is discussed in our sessions is confidential unless a child asks us to speak to their parents.  However, if we have reason to believe that a person or the child is at risk of harm either from themselves or others, then we are duty-bound by law to report this to a relevant agency.

We all want to do our best for our children, but sometimes situations we encounter make life feel like a constant challenge.  You may feel as though you have failed as a parent, which is not the case, but acknowledging there is an issue that needs to be resolved is hugely important and is your start to recovery.

We may well start the first session with the parent(s) so we can understand background information and understand where they are at in life.  Whilst this can be difficult, it is usually a great relief and is the first step on the road to recovery to a brighter happier future.
